Founder & Digital Transformation Lead

Architect and consultant specialized in Building Information Modelling (BIM) and digital processes applied to engineering and architecture for complex buildings and linear infrastructures. He has collaborated with Arethusa Srl, F&M Ingegneria S.p.A., Starching Srl, and Colombo Costruzioni S.p.A., developing digital strategies and integrated information models for design, construction, and asset management.

He has led the digital development of key projects such as Bologna, Rome Fiumicino, Milan Linate, Milan Malpensa, and Bergamo Airports, the Codogno – Cremona – Mantova railway upgrade, the Venice Airport rail link, and the port infrastructures of Genoa, Naples, and Taranto. His expertise extends to BIM-based Construction Supervision and Quantity Management, As-Built modeling, advanced information modeling, and the creation of Common Data Environments (CDEs) integrated with IoT and Augmented Reality systems.

With over twenty-five years of experience in design, construction management, and technological innovation, he has developed advanced methodologies for project validation, process digitalization, and data management, applying Artificial Intelligence to airport obstacle monitoring and project verification. As founder of Nexcommon, he promotes knowledge sharing and the application of AI to enhance efficiency, quality, and collaboration in complex engineering projects.

Ing. Massimo Speziani

Structural Engineering & Computational Design

Civil Engineer with 15 years of experience in Building Information Modeling for large-scale infrastructure and industrial projects. He has managed and developed complex BIM models for international firms including ARUP, Lombardi, Milano Serravalle Engineering, Infra Engineering, and Acea.

His professional experience includes BIM coordination for major projects such as the New City in Libya, the A4 Castelnuovo del Garda Interchange, the San Vittore Waste-to-Energy Plant, and the RAMSES platform for infrastructure monitoring (Pedemontana Lombarda). He is also engaged in research and development of AI-driven tools and WebApps integrated with BIM models, focusing on automated design and digital inspection management.

As a trainer and consultant for leading engineering companies, he collaborates with Nexcommon to advance the integration of digital design and artificial intelligence within engineering workflows.

Ing. Alessandro Novellino

Ing. Alessandro Novellino

Earth Observation & Geoscience Research Lead

Researcher and consultant specialising in remote sensing, geoscience, and natural hazard monitoring, with over ten years of international experience in advanced Earth Observation technologies. He currently serves as a Senior Remote Sensing Geoscientist at the British Geological Survey in the United Kingdom, after working in leading research centres and geospatial technology companies.

His scientific work integrates satellite data analysis, InSAR, geological modelling and machine learning, supporting the investigation of landslides, ground deformation, volcanic activity and complex hydrogeological processes. He has led and contributed to major international projects funded by ESA, NERC, UNESCO and UKRI, with a cumulative value exceeding £50M.

Alessandro is the author of more than 70 peer-reviewed publications (h-index 23) and serves as editor, topic editor and reviewer for leading journals and scientific organisations in the remote sensing community. He has also been Visiting Professor at Italian universities and is a member of high-level advisory groups, including the UK Government Scientific Advisory Group for Emergencies (SAGE).

Throughout his career, he has held leadership roles in scientific education and communication, directing training programmes, producing outreach content and contributing to major communication platforms with millions of viewers. His work bridges research, innovation and knowledge dissemination, promoting the use of Earth Observation as a key tool for resilient territorial management.
